Field Orthopaedics Launches OCTOPi™ Integrated Construct System for Hand and Wrist Surgery

New system combines three modular anchor constructs — OCTOBridge™, OCTOExtend™, and OCTOAnchor™ — designed by hand surgeons to address instability in the scapholunate, thumb UCL, distal biceps and other hand and wrist soft-tissue procedures.

HOUSTON, Texas — Sept. 17, 2026 — Field Orthopaedics, a medical device company dedicated to advancing hand surgery, today announced the launch of the OCTOPi™ integrated fixation construct system, a new construct-driven platform purpose-built for hand and wrist indications designed by hand surgeons. The OCTOPi System is available in 1.4mm, 1.7mm, and 2.4mm sizes, giving surgeons a single, integrated platform to address a wide range of joint instability needs in the hand and wrist.

The OCTOPi System is built around three interoperable constructs that can be used independently or in combination, depending on the demands of the repair and indications for use.

OCTOBridge™ — a new interconnected double-fixation product that comes as a single construct straight out of the box. Surgeons set each point of fixation, then perform the final reduction and tensioning across the joint. OCTOBridge also includes needles to address capsule closure or soft-tissue repair, thereby reducing operative steps.

OCTOExtend™ — allows the surgeon to extend an OCTOBridge construct to additional points of fixation, adapting the repair to variable injury patterns without switching systems.

OCTOAnchor™ — single, standalone fixation options for repairs requiring a single anchor point. All OCTOAnchors are double-loaded with needles and suture that is sized specifically for a variety of hand and wrist procedures.

Designed in close collaboration with hand surgeons, the OCTOPi system is tailored to give surgeons new options for some of the most challenging injuries in this segment. Because OCTOBridge arrives pre-configured as a ready-to-implant construct rather than components assembled at the time of surgery, Field Orthopaedics believes the OCTOPi system has the potential to enhance OR efficiency and allow greater intraoperative flexibility for surgeons. Field Orthopaedics expects the system to offer new and impactful solutions for scapholunate ligament injuries, thumb ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries, distal biceps repairs and finger tendon repairs such as FDP and mallet finger — indications that have historically been constrained by fixation options offered for the unique demands of hand and wrist surgery.

Today, if you want a bridging construct between two anchors, you're often building it yourself — tying anchors together on the back table or in the joint or reaching for a larger anchor to get the construct you need. OCTOBridge comes out of the box already connected, so we simply place both anchors and tension between them. It's a meaningful shift in how we can approach scapholunate and thumb UCL repairs,” said Kavi Sachar, M.D., a hand surgeon and co-designer of the OCTOPi System.

The OCTOPi Integrated All-Suture Construct System will be available to hand surgeons in the United States beginning September 17, 2026.
